A Malaysian woman, @jiedgaf__, took to her Threads profile to share how a beggar had insulted her after she had donated RM1 to him, as he was allegedly unsatisfied with the amount that she gave him.

Beggar 1

She wrote, “Yesterday, I donated RM1 to one of those people who often sit on sidewalks. I did this as I noticed his container (where people gave donations) was still empty.”

“Just as I was leaving (after giving the beggar RM1), I turned around and do you know what I saw? He took the money and said, ‘Stupid, so selfish, just RM1‘, and then he threw the money back into the container. After seeing that, I cried. I felt like my RM1 was not appreciated.”

She added that this situation has caused her to regret donating the money and potentially opt out of donating in the future.

While a few Malaysians believe she could have donated at least RM5 as there is not a lot that can be bought with RM1, others shared that, if they were in her shoes, they would have taken back the unappreciated RM1.

What would you have done if you were in her shoes? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
