Budget 2022: Sugar Tax Expansion & Excise Duty On E-Cigarette Products and Chocolate Beverages

Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul bin Tengku Abdul Aziz has just tabled Budget 2022 in the Dewan Rakyat.

One of the initiatives in the Budget includes an expansion of the sugar tax as well as excise duty for e-cigarette products.

According to Tengku Zafrul “Budget 2022” which is the largest ever budget to date, will introduce an excise duty applicable to malt, cocoa and chocolate beverages and that excise duty will also be applied for all electronic cigarette products.
