A bride in Uttar Pradesh, India stormed out of her own wedding ceremony and called off the wedding after finding out that the groom has lousy math skills. The bride, 21-year-old Rita Singh from Farrukhabad in Northern India did so after the groom failed a simple task of counting bank notes.

As reported by India Times, the priest in charge of the ceremony told the bride’s family about the groom’s weird behaviour. They then decided to test the groom by asking him to count 30 Rs10 notes, which he failed to accomplish.

Following the groom’s failure to do simple mathematics, the bride stormed out of the wedding ceremony. The bride’s family said that they were uninformed of the groom’s “mentally fragile” state.

Mohit, the bride’s brother asserted,

“Marriages are normally conducted in good faith, and because the mediator was a close relative, we believed him and did not meet the man. When the priest informed us of his strange behaviour, we decided to put him to the test and offered him 30 Rs10 money notes to count, which he was unable to do. Rita refused to marry him after learning of his condition,”

The cancellation of the wedding by the bride and her family then sparked a feud between the two families. In fact, the police were even called in to help mediate the situation. Ultimately, the bride stuck with her decision and the wedding was completely cancelled.
