These babies have no names, parents or even nationalities left to protect them.

With the never-ending lockdown, many deep-seated problems in the country have been uncovered and the most heartbreaking one is a sharp increase of newborn babies being abandoned in the hospitals.

To help with this, Kembara Kitchen has initiated the #KembaraBabyAid campaign to help both these abandoned babies and the hospitals.

Running out of diapers, formula and wipes for newborns

In an Instagram post, they mentioned that hospitals are running out of diapers and newborns thus the campaign is designed to collect diapers (S size: doctor recommended brands like Huggies, Pet Pet, Drypers), formula milk for 0-12 months/newborns & baby wipes.

William Cheah of Kembara Kitchen spoke to WORLD OF BUZZ  and said that one of their volunteers who works closely with a hospital that has a baby shelter was told that the abandoned babies are sent to the Malaysian Welfare Department. The department highlighted this issue to the organisation and approached Kembara Kitchen for help.

There are two aspects to this programme:

  • Firstly, products will be given to the hospitals to be used for the babies.
  • Secondly, the mothers that are in need will be provided with an estimate of three months worth of formula milk, diapers and baby wipes.

The supplies will be sent to the hospitals Social Welfare Department and the Kembara team will have no direct interaction with the mothers and babies.

“The major concerns of these mothers is that they do not know how to sustain their babies. Thus, this is how we can help them for now.”
