A Patient & His Family Beat Up Indonesian Doctor After the Medicine He Prescribed Wasn’t Effective

An altercation involving a doctor and his patient’s family became viral in Malaysia recently after a video of the incident circulated among our country’s social media users.

The 26-second video, originally posted by Indonesia’s Media Lampung was reposted by the Malaysia Most Viral Twitter account and has since gone viral with over 97,700 views as of the time of writing.

The video showed an individual, identified as a doctor at a health clinic in West Lampung on the Indonesian island of Sumatera, being attacked by several men. You can watch the whole video here:

 

According to a report by Media Indonesia, the victim, Dr Carel Triwiyono was attacked by one of his patients and his family because the medicine he prescribed for the patient was ineffective.

The patient was suffering from gastric pain but after taking the medicine, the medical condition still persisted.

Following this, the patient became unsatisfied with the doctor’s service and decided to beat him up with the help of his family.

In the video, you can see one of the patient’s family members restraining the doctor with a chokehold while the patient hit him.

One of the nurses at the health clinic tried to stop the suspects from beating up the doctor but one of them tried to grab her smartphone while she was recording the incident instead.

Following the incident, two men, 32-year-old Adi Wirahman and 41-year-old Misran Hadi were arrested by the local police.
