Over 100 children and their parents in George Town, Penang celebrated Malaysia Day in a rather unique and fun manner yesterday: With a fire hydrant shower!

Part of the “A Day with Bomba Penang 2.0” event co-organised by the Penang State Fire and Rescue Department and the Fire Prevention Organisation, a Kuala Lumpur-based non-governmental organisation (NGO), it took place at the Jalan Perak Fire and Rescue Department in George Town.

You can watch a video of the fire hydrant shower, as shared by the Berita Harian X account here:

As reported by NST, the fire hydrant shower was symbolic of the celebrations of Malaysia Day and is one of the activities carried out during the event. In total, 350 participants consisting of parents and their children join in yesterday.

Besides the fire hydrant shower, the programme also feature activities such as colouring contests, a talk on fire prevention, fire-extinguishing demonstration, machinery exhibition and a demonstration of safety procedures in high-rise buildings.

As the event’s name would suggest, this is the second programme of its kind in Penang and given the positive response, the organisers hope that they can organise similar events in the future.
