It’s truly sad that there are so many elderly people in Malaysia that are almost forgotten by the world.

Most of these people live in utter neglect that it’s literally shameful to see.

Thankfully, 78-year-old Jaafar Ali Mohd was found by authorities, after some members of his community in Kampung Seri Rompin, Negeri Sembilan, had become concerned after they realised that he has not been seen for a week.

As according to Harian Metro, the Coordinator of the State Legislative Assembly of Jeram Padang, Smusliadi Sabtu said he was approached by residents of the area to report the man as missing.

“I then went to the Rompin Police Station to ask for assistance before heading over to his house with the Kampung Seri Rompin Community Management Council (MPKK) to assess the situation,” he said.

“We were shocked to find Jaafar in a weakened state in his house that was full of trash,” he added.

Based on the information given by Jaafar’s neighbours, he was often seen out of the house and around Rompin town, which was roughly a kilometre from his house. But since last week, he was nowhere to be seen, which caused them to get suspicious.

They also informed Smusliadi that he’s been living in the RM30 a month rented home for almost 20 years.

The authorities that visited Jaafar along with Smusliadi tried to find identification documents around Jaafar’s house but did not manage to find any.

“Jaafar is now being treated at the Jempol Hospital and his case has been handed over to the Jempol Department of Social Welfare for further action,” Smusliadi elaborated.

Smusliadi also added that if it wasn’t for the alertness of the residents, there is no doubt that the situation would have been worse.

We’re so happy that Jaafar was found in time!

We genuinely hope for nothing but the best for him.
