Try writing underwater. Yes, we’re saying dive into the pool and write something, anything. Sounds impossible, right? A 20-year-old Malaysian student will prove you wrong.
The student, Ahmad Fudhail from Alor Setar, Kedah recently made it to the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for writing a full, 350-word essay underwater. The best part? He was the 1st person to do so. In just 1 hour and 34 minutes, Ahmad managed to complete his essay underwater at the Kedah Aquatic Centre. How is that even possible, you might ask.
A special kind of paper and a waterproof pen
According to a report by the New Straits Times, Ahmad used a waterproof pen and a special kind of book which are used by divers, as well as an oxygen tank to keep him breathing. Despite making it to the MBOR, Ahmad and his team are not going to stop there. As of now, they are already planning to set a world record.
“We’re thinking about diving for 3 days in a row alternating with doing certain activities.”
The details have yet to be determined but Ahmad is expected to consider all plans in due course. Was the pool the only alternative the team had?
Ahmad revealed that he initially wanted to write his underwater essay at the sea. However, safety concerns and the uncertainties in the current weather halted the plan, so the team shifted to the pool at the Kedah Aquatic Centre.
The student also revealed that the process of writing an essay underwater is not a walk in the park. It affected his mental state not long after he was “submerged” in the pool.
“35 minutes in, it was tough for me to concentrate but thank God, I managed to complete the essay.”
Ahmad also expressed his hope to see this achievement serve as an inspiration to other youth out there to pursue their dreams to the maximum. You can watch Ahmad writing an essay in the clip here on Instagram, shared by KPTM Alor Setar.
Congratulations Ahmad for the groundbreaking achievement! If you could do something that might make a world record, what do you have in mind?
