As inflation hits, it’s undoubted that many people are struggling to make ends meet. Many would start looking into ways to cut cost in order to have sufficient funds for other necessities.
Just recently, Uncle Kentang shared a story about how a fast food restaurant customer saw a 20-year-old student eating leftovers. In his post he said a customer named Siti who was at a fast food chain in a mall in PJ stumbled upon a young man eating leftovers. The boy is actually a 2nd year private university medical student who scored 11As in his SPM.
The 20-year-old student managed to get a RM250,000 loan by JPA. Probing further, Uncle Kentang found out that the student didn’t want to burden his parents as they need to pay RM5,000 per semester for the fee difference.
His dad is an odd job labourer while his mom is a housewife residing in Melaka. His parents are only able to give him RM100 allowance every month. When asked why he eats leftovers in the fast-food restaurant, he mentioned that it’s “the best tasting thing he could get to eat“.
“I would only go over at 9pm and ask if there are any leftovers, they’d usually bring me the leftovers that they’ll throw out at the end of the night. The leftovers are still edible but if they don’t have any leftovers that night, I’ll just go back to my hostel hungry”, he said.
Uncle Kentang then shared that he brough this young aspiring doctor out for a meal and as they were having dinner, the 20-year-old told him that he “hasn’t had soup in a long while”.
He then ended the post urging netizens who want to lend a helping hand to call him.
“To those who want to help this young aspiring doctor out, call me at 018-2683999.”
It’s sad to see the struggles some Malaysians have to face in order to have a brighter future. If you’re interested in assisting, please reach out to Uncle Kentang here.
