Looks like this could the perfect gift if you don’t know what to get for your friends this Christmas!
Android users, rejoice! Although there’s no official announcement from Google just yet, it looks pretty certain that the giant tech company is rolling out physical Google Play gift cards for purchase in Malaysia.
According to this report by Lowyat.net, it looks like 7-Eleven Malaysia will be the sole distributor of the gift cards. In fact, they are already on sale at one 7-Eleven store in Bukit Bintang! Just like other gift cards sold in 7-Eleven like Netflix, PlayStation Network and Spotify, the card does not carry any value until you make a payment at the cashier.
Google Play, the Android operating system’s App Store, has already supported several payment methods in Malaysia such as credit card, debit card and even billing through your telco operator but this is the first time a physical Google Play gift card is available for purchase here.
Android Police made the discovery yesterday when they noticed Google sneakily updating their support page with information saying that Google Play gift cards are now available in Malaysia. Not only that, they even included how much these gift cards will cost, and there are three prices for this at RM50, RM100 and RM200.
So, what can you do with a Google Play gift card? Well, the gift cards can be used for purchasing apps, books, movies and subscribing to Google’s news portal service, Google Play Newsstand.
They are also applicable for in-app purchases, making this a great Christmas gift for your friends who like to buy levels or skins from their favourite Android mobile games!
In the meantime, let’s keep a lookout for an official statement by Google Malaysia and 7-Eleven Malaysia.
Would you buy this Google Play gift cards for your friends or family (or do you secretly want to receive one yourself)? Tag a friend whom you think would buy one for you in the comments section! 😀
