The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is looking for a woman suspected of snatching an elderly woman’s gold necklace in a robbery at Felda Kampung Rahmat on Tuesday (February 11).

Setiu police chief, Superintendent Mohd Zain Mat Dris, said the suspect pretended to ask the victim about rental houses when the incident happened around 1:15 PM, as reported by Sinar Harian.

Mohd Zain said the 72-year-old woman told the suspect she had trouble seeing but was willing to help show her the rental house.

He said the suspect then held the victim’s hand and guided her to the house to check its condition.

Once they got there, the suspect asked the victim to sit on the bed, then suddenly pushed her down and covered her face with a piece of cloth.

“The victim tried to fight back, but the suspect hit her on the left forehead with a fragment of a cement brick before running off with her gold necklace,” he added.

The neighbour found the victim covered in blood

Mohd Zain said the victim’s neighbour heard loud noises outside and went to check. When the neighbour stepped out, she saw the victim covered in blood on the doorstep.

“The neighbour quickly told her child to call the victim’s family, and they rushed her to Setiu Hospital before making a police report,” he said.

Mohd Zain added that the forensic team (D10) had gone to the scene for further investigation.

“The public is urged to come forward with any information that could assist in the investigation,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt while committing robbery.
