Let’s be honest, expatriates, or expats for short, who are working in Southeast Asian countries often times live much better lives than the locals as they’re paid much better and receive benefits such as complimentary apartments and cars during their employment.

But, would you say that it’s because the expats are more skilled or more qualified than the locals?

The ฮันนต. 특-Class Twitter page recently shared a deleted TikTok by 2 Caucasian women, where they claimed to be school teachers in Thailand without actually having any qualifications.

Teacher 1

In the deleted TikTok, the women were faced with a question, “You guys can’t just travel forever, when are you going to go to university or get a job?”

Teacher 2

They, in response, did a somewhat mocking dance; while adding, “Us in a random town in Thailand teaching kids with no qualifications”.

Some people also managed to screenshot one of the woman’s responses to the comments on the now-deleted TikTok post.

In one screenshot, she explained that their benefits include getting their flight from London reimbursed (900 pounds, equaling to RM5,142.42), free meals everyday and a ‘really nice’ apartment.

Teacher 3

“I’m making a difference to children’s lives so yeah, I will continue,” she also said to someone who pointed out that what she and her friend is doing isn’t cool.

Teacher 4

Netizens also took to ฮันนต. 특-Class’s post to point out that there are many qualified Thai English teachers who do not get jobs or paid as well as foreigners without proper qualifications, purely because the foreigners’ native language is English.
