Education is considered essential in many countries as it could lead to many opportunities in the future. That being said, many people would encourage their kids to further their studies in hopes that they’ll be able to have more opportunities.

Although the opportunities are vast, this undergraduate has decided to quit her office job and work as a cleaner. Just yesterday, Liu has shared her success story after working as a cleaner.

In a 2-minute-long video, she shared that she has completed her tertiary studies and started working in an office. But as time passed, she realised that her parents were getting sick, and they needed a lot of money.

“I decided to quit my job and work as a cleaner as I know we needed money for different kinds of expenditures”, she added.

Liu mentioned that when she switched her job, she didn’t dare to tell her parents or her friends that she is working as a cleaner.

“I didn’t dare to post anything regarding my job online and I didn’t even tell my parents about it. I remember there was a time when I went back to my hometown for New Year and at that time, I was already working as a cleaner for half a year but my parents weren’t aware.”

“After a while I spoke to my dad about it and thankfully, he was very supportive of the decision I made”, she said.

Goals achieved through hard work

Liu shared that after working as a cleaner she was able to buy 2 houses and 2 cars. She said that although the houses weren’t huge, she is happy that she is able to buy her own house and car.

“I really think that this industry is what I want to continue in the future. I think it has many possibilities and the opportunities are endless”, she added.

Other than achieving her own goals, Liu also mentioned how the customers approval and praises are part of what keeps her motivated while working.

She shared that during peak season, she could work up to 17 hours and she would barely have time to eat. But knowing that her clients would approve of her work really makes up for the effort.

Every job has its advantages and disadvantages, as long as you find a job that suits your needs, you shouldn’t worry about other people’s opinion.

Keep up the good work Liu! Do you think you would be able to cope working for 17 hours?
