A recent post has caught the attention of netizens after a mum took to social media to share an incident involving her 9-year-old daughter.

Taking to Threads, Wani (@waniey_majid) shared how she came across a conversation in which her daughter asked someone, believed to be a legal professional, about changing her name.

Girl’s mission to change her name

In a screenshot of a conversation between the girl and the legal professional, she could be seen asking:

“How does one change a child’s name? But I’m still a kid.”

According to Wani, her daughter had initially felt awkward around a school teacher who teased her about her name, Chinta.

“Help. My daughter wants to change her name! She’s only 9 years old, but she already has a big mission to change her name. I only noticed this chat in my inbox,” the post read.

However, Wani later clarified that her daughter is doing fine now and has slowly come to understand that her teacher was simply joking around.

“My child is doing fine now. She did feel a little awkward with the teacher who liked to joke about her name because, at the time, she genuinely felt uncomfortable. But as time went by, she slowly became okay with it and learned how to handle it. She now sees it as the teacher simply joking around.

“Even when I said I wanted to meet the teacher, she actually told me not to because she said she’s already okay with it,” Wani added.

“Your name was chosen with love”

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Wani shared a heartfelt message for Chinta, reminding her that her name was chosen with lots of love and prayers.

She shared,

“As parents, we can only do what we feel is best for our children at that moment. But as they grow up, their feelings and perspectives can change. That’s why communication is so important. Listen, understand, and don’t dismiss your child’s feelings, even if something may seem small to us.

“For Chinta, mama wants you to know that your name was chosen with so much love and prayers. Your feelings are always valid, and if you ever feel uncomfortable, you can always talk to mama. I just want you to grow up confident, love yourself, and never let other people’s words define you.”
