Let’s just say Lee Zii Jia has a firm place in the hearts of many young Malaysians…

After his phenomenal match with Chen Long yesterday (30 July), Lee Zii Jia has become everyone’s favourite Malaysian. Despite losing the match, we were all proud of him knowing that the athlete has put in his best effort.

Besides flooding his Instagram and Facebook with congratulatory messages, Malaysians have also uncovered his long-forgotten Twitter account and have been demanding his return to the platform. One Malaysian girl, in particular, decided to take things one step further and even tried writing fan fiction for the badminton player!

The Malaysian who wishes to remain anonymous called her fan fiction, “The Badminton BadBoy”.

“I’m a 20-year-old girl with black hair and big eyes. One day, I bumped into a tall, handsome and sweaty man. I looked up and it was the school’s badminton badboy, Lee Zii Jia.”

“My heart started pounding as I apologised. Then, the badboy asked me out on a date in Chinese. I was startled because I don’t understand Chinese. So, I laughed and walked away.”

“I was enjoying the scenery of the badminton court. Suddenly, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I instantly knew that it was Lee Zii Jia as his sweat smell was very distinctive.”

The story then fast forwards to the current time as the girl was rooting for him while he was competing in the Olympics.

“I was rooting for him at home while he was competing in the Olympics. My heart started pounding as I saw him playing. Suddenly, my heart felt heavy. He injured his finger! I gasped but I remained calm as I knew he would be fine. Suddenly, he took off his shirt and god, his abs were so fine.”

“After he lost the match, I was so sad. Not because he lost the match but because people on Twitter started simping. God, I was so mad. But I know he’s mine forever and ever.”

That’s how the story ends so we reached out to the writer who clarified that she actually wrote the fanfiction as a joke due to a trend going around with Lee Zii Jia as a K-Pop star. Thus, she just decided to play around and write a fan fic for him. However, she added that she would NEVER write it for real!

Phew, we wonder how Lee Zii Jia would react knowing he’s the subject of such intense…experiences.
