The management of Masjid Tengku Kelana Jaya Petra in Kelana Jaya has clarified that it did not approve the proposed Majlis Solat Hajat dan Doa Selamat (a special congregational prayer for blessings and guidance) for Muar Member of Parliament (MP) Syed Saddiq, which was originally scheduled to take place at the mosque.

In a statement, the mosque management explained that the decision is consistent with its long-standing policy of maintaining neutrality and remaining free from any political affiliations or activities.

“We don’t participate or associate with any political figures”

The management stressed that all programmes held at the mosque are centred on dakwah (missionary work), worship, education, and community service, and that politically related events are not permitted within the institution.

“The mosque management wishes to make it clear that the mosque neither participates in nor associates itself with any political party or political figure in the planning or conduct of its programmes and activities.”

The organisers have since been informed of the decision and have respected the mosque’s position. As a result, the planned programme will no longer be held at Masjid Tengku Kelana Jaya Petra.

New venue announced

The event will proceed as planned at a new venue: Dewan Sri Pinang, located at Lot 32474, Jalan PJS 1/52, Taman Petaling Utama, 46000 Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The programme will take place today (25 June).

Following the venue change, the organisers remain committed to ensuring that the gathering proceeds smoothly and respectfully. Members of the public who wish to attend are warmly invited to join in prayer and show their support.

Those planning to attend are encouraged to note the updated location and share this information with family, friends, and other interested parties to avoid any confusion.

Earlier, Malaysian actress and Syed Saddiq’s fiancée, Bella Astillah, invited Malaysians to attend the Solat Hajat for Syed Saddiq ahead of his case’s final verdict. In her post, Bella also mentioned that non-Muslims are welcome to show their support from 8:30 PM onwards.

The Federal Court is scheduled to deliver its decision on Tuesday (30 June) regarding the prosecution’s final appeal against Syed Saddiq’s acquittal.
