Malaysian actress Bella Astillah has invited members of the public to participate in a special prayer gathering or solat hajat tomorrow in support of her fiancé and Muar Member of Parliament (MP) Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman ahead of his final appeal hearing, scheduled for 30 June.

Bella said the event is part of an effort to seek divine guidance and justice for Syed Saddiq, adding that all supporters and well-wishers are welcome to attend.

Non-Muslims are also welcome to show support

According to the actress, the special prayer ceremony will be held at a mosque in Kelana Jaya on Thursday (25 June).

“I am honoured to invite those who know him and wish to show their support to join a solat hajat and thanksgiving prayer session for Syed Saddiq at Masjid Tengku Kelana Jaya Petra in Kelana Jaya,” she said in a video shared on her Instagram page.

“Non-Muslims are also welcome to attend from 8:30 PM. Those planning to join can arrive at 7 PM and perform the Maghrib prayer together,” she added.

Bella expressed her excitement about meeting the attendees and encouraged as many people as possible to join the gathering.

Prayers for Syed Saddiq

In the same post, Bella also prayed for strength and peace for her fiancé as he prepares for the upcoming court proceedings.

“May Allah SWT grant him calmness, strength, and justice. Your prayers and presence are a profound sign of love and support,” she said.

Syed Saddiq’s high-profile court case

The Federal Court is scheduled to deliver its decision on 30 June regarding the prosecution’s final appeal against Syed Saddiq’s acquittal. The charges relate to criminal breach of trust, misappropriation of property, and money laundering involving funds from Bersatu’s youth wing, Armada.

Previously, on 25 June last year, the Court of Appeal acquitted and discharged Syed Saddiq after allowing his appeal to overturn the conviction and sentence imposed by the High Court on 9 November 2023. The original sentence had included seven years’ imprisonment, two strokes of the cane, and a RM10 million fine.

A day after the Court of Appeal’s decision, the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) filed an appeal to the Federal Court, leading to the upcoming final hearing.
