The wait is almost over for fans of Syed Saddiq and Bella Astillah.

The Muar Member of Parliament (MP) recently revealed that he and the singer-actress have already agreed on a wedding date with the blessing of both families. However, the couple has chosen not to disclose it publicly just yet.

Receptions planned in Sabah and Johor

Speaking on their podcast, BASScast, Syed Saddiq said only immediate family members and a few close friends know the date, as they want to make the announcement at the appropriate time.

The couple is also planning to hold wedding receptions in both Sabah and Johor, allowing relatives and loved ones from both sides to celebrate together. According to Syed Saddiq, they intentionally delayed discussing wedding preparations while his legal proceedings were still ongoing.

Following his acquittal by the Federal Court on Monday (13 July), they finally felt comfortable moving forward with their plans.

“We didn’t want to make any plans before the court’s decision,” he shared.

“Even when television stations approached us about future discussions, we had to put everything on hold.”

Focus on what matters

The Muar MP also spoke about Bella’s unwavering support throughout his legal challenges, describing her as someone who remained by his side during difficult times. He said spending time together while working in Semporna, Sabah, gave him the opportunity to see another side of Bella beyond the entertainment industry.

“I witnessed how disciplined and committed she is to her work,” he said.

“Even with a busy schedule, she never neglects her responsibilities as a mother, daughter, and sister. She also constantly looks for ways to contribute to the community.”

Bella, meanwhile, said she has no intention of entertaining the criticism and rumours surrounding their relationship. Instead of responding to every negative comment, she prefers to channel her energy into her children, her career, and protecting her mental well-being.

“Many people have encouraged me to take action, but I don’t think it’s worth my time,” she explained.

“My focus is on my children, my work, and the plans I have for the future.”

Syed Saddiq and Bella Astillah announced their engagement on 28 March this year.
