They say that a dog is a man’s best friend and time after time, dogs have patiently waited long periods of time for their owners’ returns, dogs sacrificing their lives to save humans and many more.

A Shiba Inu named Saisai in China has recently proven yet again that a dog’s love for their owner is unwavering and knows no bounds.

According to South China Morning Post, Saisai trekked 8km to reunite with his old owner, Zhao after being given away earlier.

Upon arriving at his owner’s doorstep, the adorable canine made some noise, leading his owner to become curious about what was happening on the other side of the door.

Completely taken aback by the appearance of her beloved Saisai, Zhao asked affectionately, “My dear, how did you come back?”

“I heard a noise but I didn’t realise it was you, my baby,” she added.

When she saw Saisai at her door, Zhao burst into tears. Seeing his owner cry, Saisai had tears running down the side of his face too.

Zhao and Saisai’s history

In a series of videos posted by Zhao on her Douyin account that has been widely circulated on the Internet, she explains that she had to give Saisai away because of her asthma, which is triggered by dog hair had gotten worse last month.

The pair had previously spent almost 8 glorious years together before Zhao made the difficult decision to send Saisai away to her friend who lives 8km away.

“So, Saisai probably ran 2 hours to come back,” she said.

This can also be seen through footage of Saisai drinking water from his bowl excitedly after his journey.

Moved by dear Saisai’s loyalty and love for her, Zhao has since built a new dog house for Saisai so that they can live together forever.
