The Malaysia Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) has extended condolences to the entire Hong Kong Fire Service over the tragic death of firefighter Ho Wai Ho in the blaze at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po District, the worst residential fire in over 60 years in the Special Administrative Region of China.

In the post, JBPM also paid tribute to ‘Big Ho’, who lost his life in the line of duty battling the fire that engulfed 7 residential towers on 26 November.

JBPM said that the courage and sacrifice of the late Wai Ho in saving lives and protecting the community are a noble example and proof that the duty of a firefighter requires perseverance, sacrifice and high commitment.

The statement further paid tribute to the fallen firefighter, asserting,

“His loss is a reminder of the great risk faced daily by rescue personnel for the sake of the continued safety of the public. His bravery and dedication will continue to inspire all firefighters, no matter where they are.”

“My superhero completed his job, and now he’s back on Krypton”

Wai Ho’s sacrifice has moved many worldwide, a loss made even more tragic by the fact that he was due to marry his girlfriend of 10 years next month.

The late firefighter had previously shared many intimate moments with his girlfriend on social media. One of them is currently circulating online, showing him confessing his love, saying, “Even if you’re annoyed, I’m still going to say ‘I love you’ 100 times.”

In another post, he also told his girlfriend to wait for him, saying it wouldn’t be long until they reached their desired destination

His girlfriend took to Threads to announce Wai Ho’s death. “My superhero completed his job, and now he’s back on Krypton,” she wrote.
