When it comes to crimes such as snatch theft and robbery, there is only so much one can do to avoid being a victim because the criminals will always find a way.

Yesterday, a gang of Indonesian men broke into another house in Precinct 9, Putrajaya at 3.50 in the morning after being involved in a burglary and robbery case in Precinct 11 last Wednesday.

Putrajaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner A Asmadi Abdul Aziz said the victim, a businessman, was sleeping before being woken up by the presence of 3  Indonesian men armed with machetes and sticks.

According to him, the victim was then tied up with a “cable tie” by one of the suspects before realising that his father and mother have also been tied up by the suspect.

“The gang involved wore ski masks and were armed with 2 machetes and a stick.”

“The suspect stole 2 bracelets, a necklace and cash estimated to be worth RM5,000,” said A Asmadi.

He said the initial investigation found that the suspect is believed to have entered the 2-storey terrace house through the ‘sliding’ door as there was a mark indicating an intrusion there.

He said that based on the active criminal modus operandi around 2 to 4 in the morning, it is believed that the suspect is the same individual involved in a similar case in a 2-storey house in Precinct 11, Putrajaya last week.

“The Putrajaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) is carrying out an integrated operation in addition to patrols to try to track down the gang believed to be involved in other cases in nearby districts,” he said.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code.

“Residents are reminded to remain vigilant and ensure that window and sliding doors are properly locked.”

“Improve your homes’ security features like the quality of padlocks, door grills, CCTV, alarms and keep the lights at the back and side of the house turned on,” he said.

We hope the authorities can expedite efforts to arrest these criminals!
