Remember the lockdowns that the world had to endure due to the pandemic? We certainly do and we do not wish to experience it again! Amidst the lockdown, the traffic in porn websites had seen some spikes.

What some of us may not know is that Malaysia actually ranks the 4th in terms of the highest views of the site, just behind Slovakia, Bulgaria, and Ireland.

Just yesterday, Kemaman MP, Che Alias Hamid raised the concern about the growing number of people who spend their time on pornography.

“How far is the committment of the government in blocking the access to the pornography websites in our country?” he asked.

Alias said statistics show that Malaysia is the Asian country with the highest views on pornography websites during the Movement Control Order (MCO) in 2020.

Despite the statistics having only shown the data during the MCO period, he further explained the possible addiction in watching those inappropriate materials, as well as the increasing number of people who watch porn.

He also urged the government to come up with more effective measures and solutions to block all access to pornography websites as he fears the repercussions that may follow.

“The addiction towards pornography may create a mentally ill society, regardless of the physical health,” Alias explained in the Parliament.

The statistics have also shown that prior to to the pandemic, the pageviews on the site were significantly lower.
