A pillion rider fell off the DUKE highway heading from Setapak to Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim after getting into an accident with a car yesterday (1 November).

According to Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Commander, Zulkefli Abd Malik, the accident involved a Honda Wave motorcycle and a Perodua Bezza, reported Harian Metro.

He said the Bezza had collided with the motorcycle, causing the pillion rider to fall from the flyover while the other rider sustained injuries. Thankfully, there were no fatalities.

The pillion rider suffered a broken leg and other minor injuries while the driver of the Bezza was slightly injured.

Zulkefli Abd Malik said the JBPM Kuala Lumpur Operations Operations Center received an emergency call at 6.29pm.

Following the call, eight rescuers together with the machinery operations team from the Setapak Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), a Light Fire Rescue Tender (LFRT) machine and an Emergency Service Assistance Unit (EMRS) were rushed to the scene.

Meanwhile, the victim was taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) and underwent an operation that ended at 7.19pm.

That was a close call for the pillion rider! Thankfully he survived that fall and was able to undergo a successful operation. Be careful on the road, guys!
