Menara City One has been under the Enhanced Movement Control Order for almost a month now after 17 of its residents were tested positive for Covid-19. While health screening was regularly conducted last month, there seems to have been a buzz of activity there today.

According to The Star, a group of authorities including police as well as officers from the Immigration Department and Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM) were seen heading into the building today around 10.30am wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).

Members of the media were first informed that the personnel were there for health screening and sanitisation works (which was just completed yesterday). However, around noon, several people who were believed to be undocumented immigrants were seen sitting at the side of the building.

Police and immigration trucks which were parked along Jalan Munshi Abdullah drove into the premises around the same time. Oddly, even security guards who were pushing their trolley filled with food for the residents were not allowed into the premises while the operations were going on.

We are still waiting for an official statement from PDRM and the immigration department regarding the going-ons at Menara City One.

The information in this story is accurate as of press time. However, as the situation surrounding COVID-19 continues to evolve, it’s possible that some data have changed since publication.
