Syed Abdullah Syed Abdul Rahman, the brother of Muar Member of Parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, has spoken out following the circulation of a statement containing personal remarks directed at his sibling.

In a post on Threads, Syed Abdullah, better known as Space Dollah, criticised those who, he claimed, were turning his brother’s personal life into a political issue.

“Is it wrong for him to be happy? Even that has to be politicised?”

Earlier, it was reported that Perikatan Nasional (PN), through the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), is aiming to capture the Muar parliamentary seat from Syed Saddiq in the upcoming 16th General Election (GE16).

PAS Johor Commissioner, Datuk Dr Mahfodz Mohamed, stated that the party is strengthening its election machinery early in preparation for what is expected to be a more intense political contest.

“Our election machinery is being reinforced ahead of time to face what will likely be fiercer political competition in the state,” he said.

PAS Member claims Syed Saddiq is “busy dating”

He also remarked that PAS is determined to wrest control of the Muar parliamentary seat during the next General Election (GE), claiming that Syed Saddiq is “busy dating” and spending time with Bella Astillah. The comment was made during the Perikatan Nasional Johor Grand Ceramah Programme held at the PAS Community Centre in Parit Tarom, Muar, on Sunday night (26 April).

The event was officiated by PAS Central Election Director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, who also launched Johor PAS’s election machinery.

Syed Saddiq and Bella Astillah got engaged on March 28 after he proposed to the actress on Mount Kinabalu. Syed also expressed gratitude for the journey of their relationship so far, noting that what was initially meant to be a fundraising campaign for the people of Muar unexpectedly blossomed into something romantic.
