New Balance Malaysia has announced that it is temporarily recalling and ceasing the sale of one of its shoes in our country after confirming that a small part of the shoe contains pigskin material.

In a statement yesterday, the international sports footwear and apparel company said that it thoroughly investigated the materials of the footwear with the model number U990TA4 after receiving several queries regarding its material composition.

New Balance Malaysia asserted,

“Accuracy and transparency are critical to our team at New Balance and we sincerely apologise to any customer who received inaccurate information from our team.”

The company further said that it would take full responsibility for this lapse in communications and is committed to providing a “satisfactory solution” for customers that were affected.

Accordingly, the company announced that customers who have purchased the U990TA4 shoe from New Balance Malaysia, Crossover and ATMOS KL, whether in-store or through the website are entitled to a product exchange or a full refund at any New Balance store within Malaysia, except for Factory Outlets.

This product exchange or full refund is effective immediately and is valid for up to 3 months. Furthermore, New Balance Malaysia has recalled and ceased the sale of the shoe model and informed its partners and distributors to do the same until the labelling is updated.
