Malaysians and the badminton world were recently shocked by the announcement made by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) to ban registrations of players Lee Zii Jia and Goh Jin Wei from entering all Badminton World Federation-sanctioned tournaments for two years.

The decision was made after the national No.1 Lee Zii Jia resigned from the national team. A few hours after the announcement, Lee has changed his profile picture to black across various social media like Facebook and Instagram.

Devastated by the news, many netizens have expressed their love and support to Lee in the comments.

User Wunderschon Sakura said, “????I end my degree life with crying because of you. Zii Jia, stay strong. We always support you. Thank you for cheering me during my university life. I still remember in 2017, first time I studied in KL and I saw you in AEON Mid Valley. At that time you still young and I know you can be the best players in the world. Zii Jia, please take care and we are hoping to see you in the international tournament. Never give up Jia? we always behind you?

“With you, bring back the gold medal from Paris without BAM support so those clowns can’t claim your glory,” said user Muralidaran Thamotharan.

User Rozlin de Cruz said, “??? Your journey is not ended here. You’re one of the Best Sportstar in Malaysia. You have a bright future in Badminton Legacy. Don’t let them put you down. Fight for your right.”

“You said that you will fight for what you want and I am sure that you will ?? Hang in there a bit pls.” said user Nurul Huda Muhammad.

Lee Zii Jia’s profile picture has gotten 88k likes at the time of writing, with 15k sad reactions and 12k care reactions. The name Lee Zii Jia is also trending in Malaysia on Twitter.
