The MyJPJ app is part of the Road Transport Department’s (JPJ) efforts toward digitalisation and has become part and parcel of road users in Malaysia’s daily lives as driving licences, road taxes and other JPJ services are all accessible via the app.

Well, it looks like JPJ is further emphasising digitalisation as in the latest update of the app, JPJ announced that starting 10 October 2024, logins to the app will now require users to have a MyDigital ID.

In case you’re not familiar, MyDigital ID is a national identity management and trusted digital form of identification used to authenticate users for online transactions.

Furthermore, it’s a transaction signing platform designed to address the vulnerabilities of its contemporary implementation such as insecure communication channels and storage of user credentials.

Rolled out earlier this year, MyDigital ID doesn’t replace the MyKad but instead, it essentially allows you to log in to different platforms, especially government websites and services, using a single digital identification.

You can sign up for MyDigital ID using its mobile app or register via kiosks available nationwide. For the former, you just need to take photos of the front and back of your MyKad to do so.

Only logins using MyDigital ID are allowed starting 10 October

In the aforementioned announcement on the MyJPJ app, JPJ said that a single login using MyDigital ID will be enforced starting 10 October 2024.

JPJ also advised Malaysians to urgently register for MyDigital ID via its app to avoid any difficulties logging in to MyJPJ.

Accordingly, check out our article on what is MyDigital ID and the steps on how to register for it here.
