Fake ringgit notes are emerging again following the new year. Malaysians are taking to Facebook to share the fake ringgit notes that they have received recently, and urged everyone to be cautious.

In a photo posting shared by Zeroxbani Putra in the group KL 娱乐站, he showed two RM50 notes that look identical, except in one of them, TuAnku Abdul Rahman is smiling. “It’s almost the new year, beware of fake notes,” the caption says. The post immediately got a lot of attention, and many find it hilarious because of the smiling face of TuAnku Abdul Rahman.

Replying to the post, another netizen named Joyce Chong shared another photo, where the RM20 note, which is supposed to be in light orange colour, comes in the colour red.

The post received more than 2.3k shares and 3k likes, but was removed at the time of writing.

Another Malaysian named 莉虹 also shared the fake RM20 note she received, the fake note comes in a smaller size with faded orange, and the word RM20 is written in red instead of orange.

Please be cautious and share with your family and friends to raise awareness.
