M’sians on Twitter Come to the Rescue after Learning Nenek Fruit Seller Got Robbed
It is sad to see that sometimes senior citizens in Malaysia still need to work hard to survive. They often fall victim to inconsiderate individuals who take advantage of their inability to fend for themselves.
Korang kalau lalu Marang tu (area Pulau Kerengga), pergi lah cari gerai buah nenek ni. Kesian sangat dia, tadi lalu nampak nenek ni tertidur dekat meja dia tunggu customer 😭😭 pic.twitter.com/tcXBK5GCLP

A viral tweet about an old nenek who sells fruits by the roadside in Marang, Terengganu showed her sleeping at her humble stall while waiting for potential customers because she barely had enough energy to work. The tweet said,
“If you by any chance pass through the Marang area, please find this nenek‘s stall. It was so sad to see her sleeping there while waiting for her customers.”
The person who tweeted had the chance to talk to the nenek and found out that her fruits were stolen once because she was too tired to carry them back home after closing the stall. The nenek said,
“I have to struggle even to walk back home. Sometimes I would fall down when I am walking. How to carry all these fruits back to my house?”
When asked about the taste of the fruit, the nenek explained that they are sweet according to the customers, but she never tasted them because she does not have the money to eat the fruits herself.
The tweet has prompted caring citizens who are nearby the area to stop by the stall and purchase fruits from the nenek.

For those who are interested to buy some sweet delicious fruits, you can find her stall by typing in Bengkel Pemulihan Kebajikan Marang in Waze. Her stall is by the gate of that location. Together we can help reduce her burden and give nenek a reason to smile.
