What made the encounter even more poignant was seeing the elderly man, whom Nurul later identified as Zakaria, walking away after completing the delivery.
In the short video she shared, the pak cik appeared to have a hunched back as he walked away.
Nurul said she was so moved by the sight that she asked him why he was still working as a food delivery rider. According to her, Zakaria told her that he was working to earn money to buy groceries and other kitchen essentials.
“Human to human. I swear, I was really taken aback when I saw the pak cik was the one who delivered my food.
I asked him why he was doing this job, and he said it was just to buy groceries and other kitchen essentials,” she wrote.

Nurul also shared her hopes that the Almighty would always watch over and protect the pak cik.
“May the Almighty always protect him and keep him under His care. I guess God was reminding me to be grateful for the blessing of good health. The pak cik’s name is Zakaria.”

Netizens’ reactions

“Even an elderly pak cik like him is willing to work to earn a living. Yet, I see young, able-bodied people dressed nicely sitting around and begging for money by putting up QR codes.”

“May the Almighty bless pak cik Zakaria with good health and abundant sustenance.”

“If I had known that this pak cik was working as a rider and that he said he was working to afford groceries, I would’ve just given him enough money to buy his groceries and told him to go home. I really can’t bear to see him working like this.”

“I’m willing to give this pak cik a monthly allowance as long as he stays home instead.”
