In the anonymous sharing, the woman said that she is badly missing her kampung and that this upcoming Hari Raya Aidilftri next month would be 4th straight year she hasn’t gone back to her hometown.

The woman elaborated on this, saying that her mother forbids her from going back to her kampung as the mother doesn’t want their extended family to know that the woman has been divorced from her ex-husband.

The anonymous sharing reads,

“My mom doesn’t allow me to go back to my kampung because she’s scared that our extended family would know that I’m divorced from my ex-husband. She’s embarrassed that our relatives and the village people will call her daughter a divorcee with one child.”

“My father has been trying hard to persuade my mother to allow me to go back to kampung. It has been 4 years now that I’ve celebrated Hari Raya Aidilfitri with only my child.”

In the replies to the X post, many Malaysians sympathised with the woman for her struggles and called out the mother for being selfish and caring more for her own reputation than her own daughter’s feelings.

One commenter said that the mother must be someone who likes to talk bad about others’ children and ended up feeling the full brunt of karma hitting her.

Meanwhile, a few Malaysians urged the woman to just go back to her kampung this Hari Raya Aidilfitri, as even though her mother doesn’t want her there, her father and other relatives will be more than happy to celebrate the festive period with her.
