Reminder, NEVER make any financial transactions when you’re tired!

Whoever said working from home is not tiring simply because you’re working within the “comforts of your own house” needs to get a reality check! Anyone who has been working from home throughout the pandemic knows how mentally draining it can get especially after a long day of answering calls and client meetings with unreasonable demands.

Transferred RM34k instead of RM340

Priya (name altered for privacy reasons) shared her recent experience with WORLD OF BUZZ of how she found herself on the receiving end of an extremely tiring week when she realised that she has to pay her phone bill. Priya paid the bill which came up to around RM340 and thought she crossed it off her list. However, upon completing the transaction, Priya received a text message that shook her to the core!

Instead of transferring the supposed amount of RM340.00, Priya accidentally ended up transferring RM34,015.00!

Celcom & Maybank offered immediate assistance

When she noticed her error, a panicked Priya instantly called the Celcom and Maybank customer service to enquire how to go about the refund process.

Thankfully, the customer services of both Celcom and Maybank consisted of extremely helpful workers who directed her to the appropriate officers and within two days, Priya got her money refunded.

“The lesson here is to always pay attention when paying your bills or doing any transactions and don’t do it at night when you are tired.”

In spite of Maybank’s efficiency in processing her refund, Priya felt that they could have flagged the payment sooner and informed her earlier of such a large transaction leaving her account. Nevertheless, she was just relieved that her hard-earned money was safely back into her account!
