At every Malay wedding, and this is not speaking from experience alone, there is generally an etiquette that one should be able to comply with.

However, regarding clothing, here is what this wedding photographer had to say.

“To all the guys attending weddings, please wear proper clothing like shoes, etc,” he said.

“Please avoid from wearing slippers like this group of guys, some even wore socks to go along with it!”

He added, “You want to know why I am telling you this? Sometimes, the bride/groom wants you to be a part of their photoshoot.”

“It looks out of place, and honestly you’re just spoiling the picture. If the ladies can dress up, why can’t you?”

“Where do you think you’re going dressed up like that?” he questioned.

“This is what it would look like if you wore shoes. It pairs well with the outfit and this is what I mean by dressing up for a wedding,” he explained.

“I’m not asking you to wear a suit or a tuxedo. There’s no need for that. Wear something that fits the occasion. You are not going to the night market or have dinner at the stall nearby your flat.”

What are your thoughts on the matter? Should they be told off and recommended to wear proper attire according to the occasion? Share them with us in the comments section below.
