How many more reasons do we need to finally realise the importance of sex education as part of the school’s syllables?

Recently, a Twitter post blew up when a teacher tweeted a story he had heard. A story of how a student was going through family problems because his 16-year-old sister got pregnant by a jobless adult during the MCO period.

This is why we need sex education. Such a thing could be avoided if she was more informed of her body and also sex“, the teacher asserts.

Sex Ed

The teacher further adds that the age of consenting sex in Malaysia is 16 years. Anything below is considered statutory rape!

The teacher told WORLD OF BUZZ, “In my opinion, the right age to apply sex education is during the primary school years. This keeps them informed about threats like pedophiles, groomers and rapists”.

“Sex Ed is key to protect our children from predators. If children can recognise traits of predators, they would be able to at least be more careful when mixing with others. If children know the dangers of being sexual predators too, it will at least curb such behavior when they grow up“, said the teacher.

“Families should still implicate sex ed despite their faith/beliefs. If I’m not mistaken, sex ed is also part of many religious faith, it’s just a matter of how it’s told that makes a difference. Since most faiths and religion are quite aged, more info on sex-ed enables families to prepare themselves for more eventualities“, the teacher explains.

Exposing young kids to sex ed DOES NOT mean exposing them to sex. It simply means young children will be educated on any sexual-related topics like sexual health, sexual identity, relationships, the definition of consent, and most importantly the laws related to sex.
