Perak is known for its picturesque kampung-style houses. Keeping traditional Malaysian homes intact can be tricky, but it’s definitely worth it!
In a recent TikTok video, local actor @julianasophieevans gave her followers a glimpse of her late grandparents’ beautiful Perak-style home back in her kampung.
“A lot has changed throughout the years”
In the video, Juliana mentioned how her uncles and aunties have done a great job preserving and renovating the home over the years.
She also mentioned about the many changes that have occurred and showed her favourite spot in the traditional house.
“My late grandfather’s motorcycle is still here, as well as his and my late grandmother’s bicycle, both in great condition.”
A blend of modern and traditional
Many traditional Malaysian houses today have been transformed and modernised, blending traditional designs with modern styles, while still maintaining their beauty.
As a result from that, their functions, forms, and structures may have changed from what they used to be. However, it’s still great to see people making an effort to preserve these traditional houses!
Netizens flooded the comment section to share their thoughts, with some even reminiscing about their old kampung homes!
“I bet kids would love exploring a house like this. There are so many great hiding spots for playing hide and seek. I miss wooden houses like this and it’s been years since I’ve been in one.”
“Wooden windows are the best. It reminds me of my grandfather’s home back in my kampung.”
“Your late grandfather’s house is so spacious. Are you thinking of converting it into a homestay?”
“The house looks tidy and beautiful.”
