M’sian Passes Away After Falling Onto LRT Tracks At LRT Dato’ Keramat Station

A horrific accident took place at the LRT Dato’ Keramat Station on 1 December.

According to BERNAMA, a 27-year-old man passed away after he was run over by a Light Rail Transit (LRT) train after he fell onto the track.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department Operation Commander Mohd Fabell Md Yasin said they received a distress call on the incident at about 9pm.

It is also said that after the victim was run over, medical officers who were there pronounced him dead.

“Efforts to extricate the victim were done with the cooperation of the LRT technician who managed to reverse the train to enable firemen to remove the victim’s body from the LRT track.”

The remains of the victim were handed over to the police for further action.

Rapid Rail mentioned in a statement that after the incident had occurred, they set up alternative routes for passengers affected by the service disruption. They added that they will be cooperating with the authorities for an investigation into this incident.

In the newest update by KOSMO!, Wangsa Maju District Police Chief, Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah said that the victim waited for the train to arrive on the platform before jumping onto the tracks.

Those who have witnessed the incident are urged to give their eyewitness accounts to the police.
