A video is currently going viral online showing a man jumping in front of a speeding car in an attempt to prevent it from colliding with schoolchildren crossing the road in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan.

Syed Shukri MK, a digital creator and Chairperson (YDP) of the Sekolah Kebangsaan Port Dickson (SKPD) Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG), took to his Facebook page to share the footage. He urged the public to drive slowly in school zones to prevent avoidable tragedies.

Heroic intervention

In the video, a man is seen leaping in front of an oncoming vehicle just as students are crossing the road. Reflecting on the heart-stopping moment,

Syed Shukri wrote:

“To those who drive in school areas, especially near SKPD: I ask you to obey the traffic laws. Please slow down your vehicles when students are passing. You can do that, can’t you?”

He confirmed that a formal police report has been filed regarding the incident, which he described as a “serious close call.” He expressed hope that safety measures would be improved and that motorists would show greater respect for school-zone regulations.

Commending extraordinary bravery

Syed Shukri went on to personally thank the man in the video, identified as Abdul Rauf Sithick, for his quick thinking and courage.

“Thank you, Abdul Rauf Sithick, for your efforts, vigilance, and bravery. We at the PIBG truly appreciate it. When we eventually meet, I want to learn Kung Fu from you,” he remarked, referencing the athletic way Abdul Rauf intercepted the danger.

Beyond drivers’ responsibility, Syed Shukri urged parents to be more proactive during the school run. He encouraged those picking up or dropping off their children to assist them in crossing the road and to look out for other unaccompanied students.

“Please work together for the safety of SKPD students. Please pray for everyone, so that an incident like this never happens again,” he added.
