It must be so scary and exhausting to spend the majority of one’s day being around someone who is aggressive and violent. This is because we never know when these people will act on their anger or agitation.

A Malaysian man, Jason was recently assaulted by his drunk employer, Ray.

In the incident that took place in the wee hours of the morning of June 11, 2022, Jason sustained an injury to his right ear and damage to his laptop.

Ray’s violent behaviour

Jason and Ray’s relationship as employee and employer started on May 17, 2022. Jason, a sound engineer, was temporarily hired by Ray to set up some musical equipment at the music center Ray runs.

Throughout his short time at the music center, Jason has noticed that Ray, who is allegedly an alcoholic, becomes easily irritated and aggressive.

“He would talk bad about his employees behind their backs to clients and treat us poorly,” said Jason.

He does this by always shouting and giving unreasonable orders to the co-owner, who is also his girlfriend and his employees.

Before the assault

Prior to the assault, Ray was drinking and chatting with clients as he allegedly talked bad about Jason.

When the client left at around 1-2am, Jason and Ray’s partner confronted Ray to ask if there was anything he was unhappy with about them, so that they can talk about it openly.

Unwilling to talk, Ray also began to suspect that Jason is learning too much private and confidential information about the company.

This made him agitated, leading him to fire Jason on the spot.

When Jason attempted to ask if he was okay, Ray became even more agitated, shouting at Jason not to touch him.

The assault

Then, Ray proceeded to headbutt Jason against a pillar as he tried to start a fight.

He threw punches at Jason and kept asking him to punch him back.

He managed to land two blows on the right side of Jason’s head and flung his laptop across the street.

The aftermath

After lodging a police report, the whole process of giving his testimony to the investigating officer and getting a lawyer took about 1-2 weeks before Ray was arrested at the music center.

He pleaded guilty to two charges of physical assault and battery and damage of property.

According to Jason, Ray is still in jail as of time of writing.

It is also alleged that Ray is a conman. He has been using a fake identity and his partner’s money to rent a condominium unit and to purchase a car.
