How desperate can one be when the intention to steal takes over the mind of the perpetrator? Theft can happen anywhere, but a recent incident inside a public toilet may leave us wondering if nowhere is really safe anymore.

According to a reshared post on the Facebook page of Kedah Kini, after visiting Penang, a man dropped by at a petrol station after the toll plaza in Juru, Penang as his wife wanted to use the washroom. His wife stepped into the public washroom with her handbag, and she entered the last cubicle, with the one beside her occupied.

Most of the time, we tend to hang our items on the hanger attached to the door, but there was none on the cubicle’s door. That left her no choice but to place her handbag on an empty elevated space just behind her. All she needed was a “peaceful break” but that just wasn’t her night.

In the midst of her “business”, the thief swiftly grabbed her handbag and escaped! It was impossible for his wife to catch the thief as it would’ve taken her some time to clean up.

Unfortunately, the identity nor the gender of the thief was identified. The lack of surveillance cameras outside the toilet and around the area made it impossible for anyone to possibly locate and identify the perpetrator.

The incident took place recently around 12:30 am.

As a result of the theft, his wife lost,

  • Wallet
  • Identification card
  • Bank cards

A police report has since been lodged, and despite being nearly impossible to retrieve the stolen items, the man simply wanted to share this incident with the public and urge people to be more vigilant.

“The thief stole when the victim was pooping. This is rare”, the man said.

Thieves are getting more notorious and it’s like they’re watching our moves to plan the right time to “attack” us as if they know our most vulnerable state so that we cannot catch them on the spot. Do be careful and ladies, try not to be alone, especially in quiet areas at night.
