Should everyone be able to take a joke, or is there a limit to making jokes? A Malaysian woman recently got the scolding of her life after making a joke that was out of the line, at least to her husband.

In a screenshot of a status which has been reshared by netizens on social media, the woman said that she told her husband a joke via Whatsapp.

“I joked and told him that I was going to run away with my ex-boyfriend,” she said.

Her husband was in KL for a 1-week programme, and he did not respond to her texts at all. Instead of asking what that was all about, her husband rushed home from KL which took him a good 4 hours of driving and immediately confronted her about it when they met.

“I told my husband that I was joking and I laughed hysterically. Next thing I know, he scolded and slapped my face,” the woman explained.

Not only that but the man also had a stern warning for the woman.

“If you joke like this again, I’ll divorce you!” he reminded her.

He then left the house, presumably back to KL for the programme, and that shattered the woman’s heart. At the end of her status, the woman expressed her disappointment towards the man and said that her mother was going to bring her to file a police report.

“We just got married for 4 months and he has already slapped me.”

“The kind of joke that will damage a marriage”

The image has been reshared by many social media pages, and netizens are not amused. Many agreed that the woman has taken it too far, and some even thought that she deserved the slap.

“Bad husband. But the woman should be buried alive too,” one netizen joked.

“Should’ve stepped on her too.”

“Her joke can be damaging.”

“This is what you deserve for joking on a serious matter. Do you think your husband has no dignity? What if others read the text? Don’t blame him, and do you really think that is a joking matter? Which husband won’t be mad after listening to such a thing?”

“Why would he slap her? He should’ve tied her to the tree with fire ants, then tell her, ‘I’m just joking’.”

Do you think the woman has gone too far with her jokes, and do you think she deserved that slap?
