December will truly be a month to remember, especially for all civil servants who are expecting their increments as per the good news that was announced by the Prime Minister earlier this year.

The 13% increment is inevitable (so don’t worry!) but the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public Service (CUEPACS) has a solid reminder to all civil servants in the country – leave your comfort zone and stay committed to your job!

The President of CUEPACS, Datuk Adnan Mat said yesterday (August 5) at a press conference that civil servants need to prove that they deserve to receive the salary increase.

“At the same time, we have to break the negative perception that has been thrown at us over the years. I am aware that a few parties had raised the rationale for the salary increase.”

Adnan said most of the comments highlighted the necessity of the wage increase when the service has not seen major improvements.

“For that reason, we tell the public service members to continue to provide the best service, which is in line with the increase in civil servants’ salaries.”

Adnan added that following the salary increase which will kickstart in December, CUEPACS wishes to see no one questioning the integrity of the civil servants.

“Don’t let anyone question our integrity because the people are the eyes and ears of the government. We’re always being watched. Even when we are doing our best, the smallest issue will turn out to be the biggest issue,” Adnan said.

PMX is expected to explain the details of the salary increase on August 16.

Regardless of the industry, we hope all employees will carry out their due diligence in serving the people. What do you think of the increase in civil servants’ salaries?
