Earlier this week, a 44-year-old disabled woman was found abandoned in an empty home in Kota Bharu, Kelantan after a neighbour walked past and noticed her. The neighbour happened to be passing by the house when she noticed a woman lying inside the premises. She told Sinar Harian,

“The smell was very rotten and at first I thought she had died. But when I called out to her, she cried out in pain. I then called the other neighbours and we agreed to contact the police.”

Kota Bharu district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Ismail Mat Sidik told Berita Harian that they arrived at the home and found the disabled woman lying in the abandoned house’s kitchen area, saying,

“Upon arriving at the scene, the house was locked. We had to break the kitchen door in order to enter the house. We then found the victim lying on the floor surrounded by her own faeces.

“We believe the victim has been in this condition for a while because she appears to be weak and undernourished.”

Soon after finding her, she was rushed to Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II (HRPZ II) for emergency treatment and remains warded in the hospital.

It was discovered that the 44-year-old lived with her younger sister, who previously worked in Kuala Lumpur before moving to Kelantan 6 months ago.

Now, her sister has since been remanded for three days to assist with investigations. The Kota Bharu district police chief told Berita Harian,

“We are in the midst of investigating the case to determine whether the victim has been neglected.”

Why would you do that to your own sister?!

Let’s hope the authorities investigate this case appropriately. Meanwhile, we wish the victim a speedy recovery!
