With more tourist spots popping up around Kuala Lumpur, hotels are becoming more creative in finding ways to stand out in our diverse capital city.

According to The Star, a 4-star boutique hotel called RED was announced to have the tallest mural on Malaysia’s Book of Records as it spans 25 storeys – a total of 87.1 metres. This without a doubt establishes the hotel as one of the city’s landmarks and attractions.

This pop and majestic mural was created by a graffiti artist from Sabah named Kenji Chai. The artist painted the mural 10 hours every day for one whole month to complete the final piece. With a canvas that big, it’s an achievement alright.

According to Kenji, he wanted to present Malaysia’s unique and diverse culture through this mural. The mural is entitled ‘Courage To Dream’ and depicts a Dayak lady, the flora and fauna found in Malaysia, and of course, our beloved local food.

Meanwhile, the hotel’s CEO, Datin Lea Chan, said that this is one of their initiatives to celebrate local works of art.

“We believe in our local artists’ talents and that drove us with the decision to work with Chai to create the mural,” she continued.

The 25-floor hotel can be found at M101 Dang Wangi Tower, Kamunting Road. Its strategic location that’s close to main attractions in Kuala Lumpur such as the KLCC, Petaling Street, NU Sentral and Pavilion makes the hotel one of the most popular spots for travellers to stay at.

What do you think of this? Maybe we can paint KLCC next and create the world’s tallest mural, eh?
