Hari Raya is just around the corner and this woman proves that it’s an occasion that all of us can appreciate together!

Facebook user Rizal Imran recently posted about a woman who visits the mosque in Ulu Klang every year to donate food and drinks to the congregation there. She would bring bags of fruits and a variety of flavoured cordial drinks so that the Muslims at the mosque are able to break their fast once they finish their prayers.

Vijayalechumy Shamugam, also known as Aci, has made this a yearly tradition as she also pays the mosque to read tahlil for her late younger brother, who was a Muslim convert.

“Although they are from different religions, that shows how much she loved her late brother,” Rizal wrote in the post, which has been shared over 1,200 times on Facebook.

“But what touched me the most is that she also fills up a form for ‘bacaan tahlil’ for her late brother, who was a mualaf (Muslim convert).”

Rizal, who is also Aci’s neighbour, added that her younger brother Abdul Rahman Abdullah and his wife died a few years ago, and ever since then, Aci would ask the mosque to pray for them.

According to mStar, Aci, 56, started donating to the mosque and requesting for tahlil prayers as her very own mother used to carry out this practice before she passed away.

“I do it because I loved my brother so much. We were very close. I miss him even more every Ramadan and Hari Raya,” said Aci.

Aci then went on to say that two of her four children had also converted to Islam, and she didn’t feel the need to restrict them from making that decision.

“To change religions is their decision, we have to respect it. For me it doesn’t matter what religion they practise as long as they believe and are sincere.” she said.

Being so involved in another religion has never been a problem for Aci and her family as they made it a point to be friends with the people in their community despite their race or religion.

Aww, that’s really sweet of Aci for being so kindhearted towards the people at the mosque. We hope only good things will keep coming her way.
