“We received a phone call from Slim River Hospital informing that a man wearing a light blue Covid-19 bracelet had fled the hospital ward,” he said.

That man was found again at 6pm by the team members of the Crime Prevention Patrol from the Slim River Police Station.

Superintendent Sulizmie Affendy said, a team of health workers complete with personal protective equipment (PPE) came to pick up the man and take him back to the hospital when they found him.

He said the results of the latest Covid-19 screening on the man were confirmed negative and he should have been discharged from the ward yesterday.

Unfortunately, the results of the criminal record check found that the man had six previous records and had been detained by the police.

The case will be investigated under Section 186 and Section 269 of the Penal Code, as well as Section 22 (b) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.
