A viral video has been making the rounds online showing a man on a motorcycle scolding an elderly woman by the roadside near a Zakat office yesterday (15 July), reportedly in Sungai Petani, Kedah.
In the video, the elderly woman, believed to be his mother, is seen standing with her hands clasped and her head bowed as the man scolds her and pulls her hijab.

According to Kosmo!, the man behaved aggressively and repeatedly struck the woman on the head. It was also reported that he did so while holding a sharp object, seemingly using it to threaten his mother.
The uploader mentioned how she had contacted the Zakat office to seek help for the elderly woman.
The individual also claimed that the mother and son had gone to the Zakat office to submit a quotation to repair the mother’s old, run-down home, which Zakat officers had reportedly visited the day before.

Meanwhile, the video owner has shared an update that they have since lodged a police report.
“The Zakat office said they will handle the matter and have taken note of the incident. The mother, who was born in 1968, has a mental disability. The man is married and works as a security guard. Whenever he goes out, he reportedly locks his mother inside the house because he’s worried she might wander off due to her mental disability,” the uploader wrote.
