Last night (10th May), it was reported by The Star that a hostage situation took place in Jalan Damai, Kota Kinabalu. A man was spotted holding a woman with a knife to her neck.

Police quickly arrived to the scene and tried to negotiate with the man to get him to let go of the woman he was holding hostage.

According to the report, the woman was believed to have been dragged from her home all the way to Jalan Damai. It was suspected that he was holding the house owner’s daughter for ransom.

A few minutes later that night, police managed to overpower the man and rescue the hostage. The man is currently in police custody while the woman is currently being treated at a nearby hospital.

The incident sparked widespread attention on social media, with photos and videos quickly circulating online. Thanks to the quick actions of the authorities, nobody was harmed in the end.

We’re glad the woman escaped unharmed at that the criminal is now behind bars!
