We’ve all been to school and caning is a usual form of punishment. However, as years go by, caning is now frowned upon and doing so could unfortunately land the teacher in serious trouble! For instance, this case where a mom got very upset and made the whole incident go viral!

Snowflake generation?

Many netizens shared their opinion, saying that this is the generation where getting caned by a teacher for MISBEHAVING can become a serious issue – on a consequence on the teacher!

On top of that, many pointed out that the mom’s behaviour of condoning the schoolgirl’s actions only makes it worse.

The term “snowflake” was coined because there’s a shift in behaviour where young adults in this generation are less resilient and more prone to take offence than the previous generation.

“During my time, I was caned aplenty but we understood that it’s to discipline us for our misbehaviour.  We would not make it viral like this,” one user on Facebook wrote.

“If the parent can’t raise and discipline their own children, then it’s up to the teachers to do so. Kids nowadays are too spoilt. Kena cane can make police report pulak,” another mentioned.

Video that went viral

The video in question is a video of a mother scolding a secondary school teacher for badly caning her daughter that went viral on social media and WhatsApp. In the video, the mom berates the teacher, asking why he would do such a thing.

“She said that she was sorry. Why did you do this to her? You are a teacher (cikgu besar), don’t talk like this. Look at her arms!” she said.

She continues and persistently blames the teacher.

“You are angry? You can fight? You’re strong? You are a teacher, you are supposed to teach the children.”

After a brief moment of silence, the teacher speaks up again and asks, “Did you ask your child what she said to me?”

The woman said she knew that the girl had used the word “ah kua” (ladyboy) on him.

The teacher tried to explain himself once more but was interrupted by the woman who said “But she already said sorry! Did she say sorry? She said sorry, right?” to which the teacher admitted that she did once.

The woman then asks, “One time is not enough? How many times do you want her to apologise?”

The teacher then says that she only said sorry after the caning and when the girl’s friend had told her to.

Another teacher defends the teacher saying that how she behaved was very inappropriate and disrespectful as she called him “ah gua” infront of students.

In a separate photo that went viral, the same schoolgirl can be seen holding a police report, believed to be lodged against the teacher.

On the other hand, some did mention that the teacher had gone a little too far and that there are many other ways to reprimand such actions instead of using the cane.
