The moment all Malaysians have been dreading has happened today as 20,596 new Covid-19 cases were recorded as of 5 August. This is, of course, the highest number of daily cases recorded in the history of this pandemic.

In the Klang Valley alone, 10,712 cases were recorded with Selangor recording 8,549 cases and Kuala Lumpur recording 2,163 cases respectively.

The other states with cases over 1,000 are Johor (1,300), Sabah (1,062), Kedah (1,446) and Penang (1,022).

Covid-19 cases have been increasing by the day, even after two full months of lockdown since 1 June.

Just yesterday (4 August), the country recorded the highest number of deaths at 257 bringing the death toll to 9,855.

We hope that as more people get vaccinated and that the Covid-19 situation will begin to improve slowly and surely.
